MACHINE SEWING | FINISHED SEAMS CRASH COURSE

Join our 6-hour workshop, split into two 3-hour sessions, to learn professional finishing techniques and advanced seam methods. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to gain confidence in making clean, durable, and polished seams on their sewing projects.

Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines and sergers, and you’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or bring your own functioning machine. However, you must use our Brother® sergers.

Class 1 Details:

  • Learn to finish raw edges using a serger and alternative methods such as pinking shears and zigzag stitches, while exploring French seams, flat-felled seams, and other professional finishes.

  • Practice pressing, trimming, and fabric-handling techniques, and understand how different finishes affect durability, fit, and overall garment appearance.

Class 2 Details:

  • Apply a variety of seam-finishing techniques to sample pieces or small projects with instructor guidance, while troubleshooting common issues for a polished result.

  • Leave with completed samples of finished seams and practical techniques you can confidently replicate in your own projects.

Weekends | 1PM–4PM

Requirements:

  • Prior sewing machine experience is required. If you are new to machine sewing, please take our Machine Sewing Basics or Machine Sewing Crash Course first.

  • Class 1: No supplies needed.

  • Class 2: Bring your own small project pieces, fabric, and notions you’d like to practice finishing techniques on.
