In this two-hour, one-time Machine Sewing Basics class, you’ll learn the essential skills and techniques needed to confidently operate a sewing machine. This beginner-friendly class is designed for students with little to no sewing experience who want to build a strong foundation and feel comfortable using a machine.
Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or bring your own functioning personal machine to get better acquainted with it.
Learn the basics of sewing machine operation, including machine parts, threading, winding bobbins, and safely using your machine. We’ll explore basic stitches, fabric handling, needle selection, tension, and stitch length while practicing sewing straight lines, curves, corners, and finishing techniques like backstitching. You’ll also learn how to identify and troubleshoot common sewing machine issues, including thread tension problems, jammed needles, and skipped stitches.
Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays | 6:30PM-8:30PM
No previous sewing experience is required to take this class.
No fabric, thread, or tools are needed to attend. All supplies are included.
Students will not complete a finished project during this class.
