MACHINE SEWING | SEWING CRASH COURSE | LEVEL 1

$250.00

Join our 6-hour workshop, split into two 3-hour sessions, to quickly learn machine sewing, garment alterations, and pattern reading. This crash course compresses our individual classes into one intensive experience.

Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or you can even bring your own functioning personal machine to get better acquainted with it.

Class 1 Details:

We'll cover the basics of sewing machine operation, including threading, basic stitches, fabric handling, and sewing techniques. You'll also practice alteration finishing methods.

We’ll also focus on pattern reading. You’ll learn how to measure for alterations, and interpret pattern symbols and markings.

Class 2 Details:

You will start your projects! The second class will be more of a “choose your own adventure” style session. You’re welcome to bring clothing items you'd like to alter. We recommend bringing 2–3 pieces so the instructors can help you decide which project would be the best fit.

Or you're welcome to bring your own fabric and pattern if you’d like to start a project from scratch. We highly suggest you start cutting out your pattern pieces before the class to save yourself some time.

Dates & Times:

Weekends | 9AM-12PM

Requirements:

No previous sewing machine experience and knowledge is required to attend.

For class 1: No supplies needed. You’re welcome to bring your patterned project if you have it for the following class to show the instructor.

For class 2: Please bring a few simple project to hem and or alter or a simple commercial pattern (We suggest not to bring a printable PDF pattern), fabric, and supplies for your patterned project. We will guide you on how to begin these projects on your own. You can join us for additional guidance during Open Studio at a later date.
