In this two-hour, one-time class, a grown-up and a child ages 8+ will learn the basics of setting up and using a sewing machine—together!
Whether you're a parent and child, grandparent and grandchild, aunt or uncle and niece or nephew, or another special grown-up and kid duo, this class is a fun way to learn a new skill, spend creative time together, and build confidence using a sewing machine.
Our studio uses Brother® computerized sewing machines. You may use one of our studio machines or bring your own functioning personal machine to become more familiar with it.
We'll cover machine parts, threading, bobbins, needle selection, tension, stitch length, and basic stitches. You'll practice sewing straight lines, curves, corners, and backstitching while learning how to handle fabric and troubleshoot common machine issues.
Saturdays Or Sundays | 12:00 PM–2:00 PM
No previous sewing experience is required.
This class is designed for one adult + one child, ages 8+. The adult and child will work together at one sewing station. You may add another grown-up and or child for an additional fee.
No supplies are needed. All materials are provided. You’re welcome to bring your own functioning sewing machine if you’d like to learn how to use the machine you have at home.
Please note: This is a hands-on learning class rather than a project-based class. Students will practice sewing techniques but will not complete a finished project during this class.
