In this two-hour, one-time Modern Patch Making class, you'll learn how to use fabric shapes and layering techniques to personalize clothing, bags, and accessories. Using HeatnBond® and sewing techniques, you’ll create unique fabric designs and transform everyday items into one-of-a-kind pieces.
Previous sewing machine experience and knowledge is required or students must take our Machine Sewing Basics class.
Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or you can even bring your own personal machine to get better acquainted with it.
Learn the basics of appliqué, including designing your shape, selecting fabrics, applying HeatnBond®, cutting your design, and securing your appliqué with stitching. We’ll explore different ways to add fabric details to garments and accessories while creating a personalized piece you can take home.

Please bring at least two fabric items you’d like to customize, such as a sweatshirt, jeans, tote bag, or other clothing item. Students are welcome to bring their own fabric scraps, and our studio scrap collection will also be available for inspiration and experimentation.
All additional supplies, including HeatnBond® and studio scrap fabrics, are included.
