In this two-hour, one-time Fabric Gathering class, you'll learn how to create beautiful gathers and use elastic to transform the fit and style of your clothing. This beginner-friendly class will teach you how small sewing techniques can make a big impact, allowing you to customize and refresh garments you already own.
Previous sewing machine experience and knowledge is required or students must take our Machine Sewing Basics class.
Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or you can even bring your own personal machine to get better acquainted with it.
Learn how to create gathers using elastic and machine sewing techniques to add shape, texture, and style to your clothing. We’ll practice measuring, preparing fabric, and attaching elastic to transform oversized garments into more fitted and personalized pieces. You’ll leave with the confidence to use gathering techniques in future sewing and garment projects.

Please bring at least two oversized preloved shirts or garments you’d like to transform. Choose pieces that could use a more fitted shape or a creative refresh.
