In this two-hour, two-day Hemming & Alterations class, you’ll learn essential techniques for adjusting and modifying clothing to create a better fit. From hemming different fabrics to making simple garment adjustments, you’ll gain the confidence to alter and customize your own wardrobe.
Previous sewing machine experience and knowledge is required, or students must complete our Machine Sewing Basics class before attending.
Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or bring your own functioning personal machine to get better acquainted with it.
Learn different hemming techniques for various fabrics and garments, including basic machine hemming methods. We’ll also cover how to take accurate measurements, understand garment construction, and identify alteration possibilities based on fit and design.
Put your new skills into practice by working on your own garments. With guidance from our instructors, you’ll apply what you learned in the first class while gaining hands-on experience with real alterations.
Students must bring a couple pieces of their own clothing to alter during the second class.
