Ready to finally learn how to use your sewing machine? Our Sewing Machine Crash Course is a six-hour workshop designed to give beginners the essential skills needed to confidently operate a sewing machine and begin making simple clothing alterations.

This two-part class combines the foundations of our Machine Sewing Basics and Hemming & Alterations classes into one hands-on experience. You’ll learn how to use your machine, practice essential sewing techniques, and apply your new skills to your own clothing projects.

Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or bring your own functioning personal machine to get better acquainted with it.

Class 1 Details:

Learn the fundamentals of sewing machine operation, including threading, winding bobbins, basic stitches, fabric handling, and essential sewing techniques. You’ll also practice measuring for alterations and learn finishing techniques to help you feel more comfortable and confident at the sewing machine.

Class 2 Details:

Put your new skills into practice during a “choose your own adventure” session focused on your own clothing projects. Bring 2–3 simple garments you’d like to alter, and our instructors will help you choose beginner-friendly projects and guide you through the process.

Weekends | 9AM-12PM

Requirements:

No previous sewing experience is required.

For Class One: No supplies are needed. You are welcome to bring alteration projects you’d like to discuss for the following class.

For Class Two: Please bring a few simple clothing items to alter, such as garments that need basic hemming or simple adjustments.
