MACHINE BASICS | ALTERATIONS CRASH COURSE

Join our 6-hour workshop, split into two 3-hour sessions, to quickly learn machine sewing and garment alterations. This crash course compresses our individual Machine Sewing Basics and Hemming & Alterations classes into one intensive experience.

Our studio sews with Brother® computerized sewing machines. You’re welcome to use one of our studio machines or you can even bring your own functioning personal machine to get better acquainted with it. 

Class 1 Details:

  • Learn the basics of sewing machine operation, including threading, basic stitches, fabric handling, and essential sewing techniques.

  • You will also practice measuring for alterations and finishing methods, building confidence and control at the sewing machine.

Class 2 Details:

  • You will begin working on your projects in a “choose your own adventure” style session.

  • You’re welcome to bring 2–3 clothing items you’d like to alter so the instructors can help you decide which projects are the best fit for a beginner.

Weekends | 9AM-12PM

Requirements:

No previous sewing machine experience and knowledge is required to attend.

For class 1: No supplies needed. You’re welcome to bring your alteration pieces if you have them ready before the following class to show the instructor.

For class 2: Please bring a few simple project to hem and we will guide you on how to begin these projects on your own.
